Composting Seminar

Our team conducted a seminar on composting, focusing on the construction and subsequent use of composters! For this reason, interested individuals attended an initial theoretical session on the composting process and its benefits compared to other methods. Subsequently, they participated in the construction of an outdoor composter made from pallets destined for disposal! Additionally, farmers from neighboring farms were informed about how they can deposit part of their organic waste from agricultural activities into our composter!

Composting can significantly contribute to mitigating the impacts of climate change while also bringing about economic benefits. With this method, organic residues from daily activities are transformed into useful compost, which is returned to the soil, enriching it and harmoniously closing the ecological life cycle of organic materials. Embracing this culture also promotes and encourages waste reduction and recycling of all essential materials, including plastics and paper. Overall solid waste management through composting has better performance compared to other solid waste management methods (incineration, recycling, etc.), reducing energy consumption and the use of harmful chemical fertilizers.

On our next step, we plan to create additional compost bins in scattered locations on the rural side of our Municipality and encourage farmers to use compost as soil improvers!
