Mapping Pathways to Emotional and Entrepreneurial Resilience through Psychogeography
Within the framework of the project titled “Urban Wellness: Mapping Pathways to Emotional and Entrepreneurial Resilience through Psychogeography”, the partner meeting took place on 25–29 August 2025 with the participation of the following organizations: GROWTHNEST (Trikala, Greece), IDEE IN MOVIMENTO (Giardini Naxos, Italy), COMMEDI – KOINONIES MESOGEIOY (Larissa, Greece), and IZMIR VALILIGI (Izmir, Turkey).
The meeting focused on the Trainers’ Workshop and Urban Exploration, where participants were introduced to psychogeography and emotional mapping while engaging in cross-border collaboration.
This workshop is part of a project that explores psychogeography as a tool for emotional exploration, combined with entrepreneurship workshops that transform knowledge into community-oriented initiatives. Entrepreneurial thinking is central to this project, enabling young people to take action based on their urban explorations. Through the entrepreneurship sessions, participants learned how to transform insights from their dérives into community-based projects or social enterprises.
The workshop focused on:
Identifying Opportunities: By mapping emotional and physical challenges observed in their cities—such as neglected areas, social exclusion, or the need for green spaces—young people identified opportunities for improvement and social change.
Creative Problem-Solving: Participants developed innovative solutions to address these challenges, using their observations as the foundation for sustainable, community-focused initiatives. For example, an abandoned urban area discovered during the dérive inspired a youth-led social enterprise for community-driven green spaces and local regeneration.
Entrepreneurial Skills Development: The workshop emphasized skills such as business planning, leadership, and pitching, ensuring that participants were equipped to turn their insights into actionable, sustainable initiatives with long-term impact. By encouraging entrepreneurial thinking, the project goes beyond exploration and reflection—it empowers young people to become changemakers in their cities, generating lasting social and economic benefits for themselves and their communities.
Benefits for youth included:
- Emotional resilience and wellbeing: Gaining tools to understand and improve mental wellbeing by exploring how urban environments influence emotions and connections with surroundings.
- Entrepreneurial empowerment: Learning to identify urban challenges and design entrepreneurial solutions, while fostering leadership, innovation, and problem-solving skills.
- Civic engagement: Building a sense of ownership of their local environment, promoting active citizenship and contributing to social cohesion.
